The delight of a child.
Children are so special, everything they do and say reminds you of your own childhood and for me I want to go back. Adulting is exhausting!
Studio portraits are timeless and I encourage all parents to invest in formal portraits of your family. But spontaneous child portraiture is the love of my heart. Capturing the "in the moment" expression of wonder, laughter and joy of life that kids give off like the most potent pheromone ever known. You can not be in the presence of a happy child and not be happy yourself. It's not physically or mentally possible!
I had the pleasure to photograph these two beautiful souls recently. Aiden is so proud of his little sister, Lily. As we wandered around the out door studio on the farm he was always so attentive to where she was, always there to support her. But don't blink, he was a different little boy when, either mom or dad where in charge of Lily. He kicked in the after burners and gone like a shot! The tree needed to be climbed, the jungle of Canna Lillies need to be navigated and above all ignore the parental call!
I always encourage parents to have formal child portraits created, those are creations to cherish through the generations, but let's not forget that the spontaneous portraits we take year after year will tell the story of your child's life.
